Fuck and Damnation

I have this cool little flash drive that I have had for years. It’s one of those promotional things that people give you when you’re the marketing director. I should say, “I HAD” one because I fucking broke it just now. I managed to get it to work well enough to copy all the information to my hard drive at work. However, I often work at home so I need to be able to take my stuff home.
On a brighter note, I got a lovely surprise today! The USPS showed up with a package from GLOML! It has that CD I said would probably take her a year to get to me! Apparently, my telling the universe (or at least those who read this) that she might not do it, along with an offer from another friend to get it for me, prompted her to get on it. I swear, that was not my intention! I am thrilled to have this CD though. :beams:
The CD wasn’t even the best part! She sent me a little bit of the perfume I used to wear and the ring I gave her 9 years ago! I told her that I lost mine and I wish that still had it. So, she sent me hers! Plus, she sent me a very sweet card. :) {insert all manner of gushing here}.
It’s getting more and more “officially” real. GLOML and I are going on vacation together in July. She already bought her ticket to come here and reserved the place we’re going to stay. She says that this is sort of a record for her – planning for a vacation this far in advance, that is.
Let’s see … anything else? I just sent an email to the entire CARES staff with this subject line: Please Don’t Be a Loose End. I love that I can do that. ;) This is the body of the email:
Okay, I think that I have been working as a fund raiser for too long.
Some time in my first week, I asked Accountant Girl if we did payroll deductions for annual fund. She looked at me oddly (as Accountant Girl is prone to do) and handed me a letter, that all of you received about a month ago, asking for annual fund donations. So far, 5 people have responded to Admin Guy with donations and pledges totaling $1,550.
A few times over the years, I’ve applied for grants where the foundation wants to know what percentage of our staff and board contribute to annual fund. I would love to be able to tell them that 100% of board and staff.
Of course, the decision is entirely up to you. If that doesn’t fit into your plans right now, that’s okay. However, please return your form so that we know that you’ve made a decision and haven’t just forgotten about it. The specifics of what you decide to donate or not are confidential. Just so you know, I ask Admin Guy for names of who has responded to him and total amount, but not amount by person.
With either a “yes” OR a “no”, there is one additional benefit to turning in your form soon: Barbara will not be bugging you for your decision! I am the Queen of Tying Up Loose Ends, so please do not be a loose end!
Also, I finally got around to actually putting links on the links page. So click on my links button and go see ‘em.
