Trashy Women
2007-04-20, 2:31 p.m.

First of all, let me tell you that I am not a country music fan. Okay, there are a few songs I’ll admit to liking. Mostly, I like jazz vocals, hip hop, R &B, old school soul and rap (ie Sugar Hill Gang) and the odd current rap. (It’s a secret guilty pleasure that I like Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg. Do NOT tell anyone!) Anyway, back to country. Okay, I can only think of one or two country songs that I like but that’s not what this post is about, in any event.

GLOML likes this song called “Trashy Women” by Confederate Railroad. Part of the lyrics say, “I like my women a little on the trashy side.” You’ll see why this is relevant eventually.

I got a haircut Wednesday. Yes, I went to Julya’s again. Unfortunately, I was the only one there, so no entertaining customers to tell y’all about. Back to the story. I also got highlights. I have never had them before. Well, except for once when Gnomad did them for me. But I mean professionally. So, I get the highlights and the haircut. The other thing you should know is that my hair does not get red highlights like most women with hair as dark as mine. When I get them because I’ve spent time in the sun, they are golden. Try to tell a hairdresser that you, a dark brunette, do want an ounce of red in your hair. They ALL argue with you. So I got golden highlights.

On the way home, I call GLOML and say, “The line between sophisticated and trashy is actually quite fine. I think I may have crossed it.” Either she said, or I thought it would have been funny that she would have said, (and GLOML? Don’t tell me. Let me think you said it. It’s a funnier story this way) “Well, I like my women a little on the trashy side.”
